music is soulful. music is spirituality, self-expression, a spiritual surrender to melodies that heal the brain and stir the soul.
Listening to a great song is like a legal high; it’s a rush of pure emotion that can teach you about life or pull you into a story. When you play an instrument or play along with other people, that feeling doubles. You aren't just listening; you’re recreating a vibe. That "electricity" of being live on stage, is an adrenaline that you can’t get easily. It’s more or less the same kick you get from riding a rollercoaster or playing sports. Apart from that, the feeling when you discover your new favourite song or you play your instrument, just love it. By writing songs you get stuck in your head for a while and the melodies take you to certain emotional places. This is like a mirror. when you play to other people and see how they react is also priceless. Music teaches you a lot by yourself, about life, society, the world, about emotions, cultures, relieves loneliness, connects you to people who are on the same wavelength....
it's so rewarding regardless of the years of practicing, the expensive gear, the rejection, unpaid gigs, carrying heavy gear and the countless shows that don't even cover the cost of transport. Yet it's worth it. The creating and meeting 'like-minded' people on a 'soul-level'. I also like creating visual artwork and collages and stuff like that. I've been doing this stuff from a young age and just want to continue doing it. Let there be art ;p
