i don't want to explain songs too much, cause i think it ruins
the romantic and the personal/relatable experience of songs
but sometimes you have a song that's kind of interesting
and special. this is one of them
it's about love but it's directly about an past experience of mine
as soon as i finished this book
i knew i wanted to write a song about it
sometimes you read/see something and it just clicks
this is one of those songs
the book's called "Delirium', it's by Lauren Oliver.
For the full story, you should go search it online yourself
but for a very quick summary,
the novel's about a boy and girl, living in a (dystopian, i think?) futuristic world
in which the boy is a 'wild one' and the girl is a 'cured' human
in short, people in that place and time, get a cure (against falling in love)
before they turn a certain age. To avoid overly emotional outbursts
or people getting hurt or something...
and it goes even further, the two types of people live segregated from each other.
So they don't get tempted. And of course, in this story they fall in love and she doesn't want
to get the cure, so she can stay in love with the wild boy..
So it's basically the classic story about impossible love
i thought it was quite cool, romantic and movie-like, so i wrote a song about that
or it's inspired by it.
I tried to capture that 'feeling' into words and (guitar) chords
and i really like how it turned out and how it sounds.
very dreamy, hypnotic and youthful
i didn't want it to be too specific about that novel though
so i kept it vague so it can also be interpreted in multiple ways...
anyway enjoy !
